From the moment you open up a jar or bottle of anything from Leaf People, you’ll notice the fresh, herbal scent. And as soon as you start using medical herbalist Julie Levin’s skincare, you’ll be able to feel that they’re made with fresh botanicals. Below are a few products that I’ve been using from her line (many I’ve already used up!) Oh, and keep in mind that Julie has created a special skincare for men too, in her Leaf Men collection. HYDRATING SERUM
A FAVE! Allow me to just say that it takes A LOT for a beauty blogger to fully use up a product and this one is GONE. I’m a huge fan of this vegan serum that’s super hydrating and has the consistency of water (I couldn’t stop applying). Refreshing and filled with Swiss apple stem cells, hyaluronic acid and cucumber hydrosol, Julie created this product to work hard on the tough stuff: wrinkles, age spots, dull and dehydrated skin and scars. What’s so wonderful about this is that it’s so gentle that it can be worn day or night and there’s no feeling of a peel or harsh exfoliation. It has a bright herbal scent from the mix of neroli, sandalwood and bergamot. I’m in love. Get it here.
NETTLE CUCUMBER SOOTHING TONER
Again, another refreshing, herbal-scented winner from Leaf People. The Nettle Cucumber Soothing Toner is one to be applied with a cotton ball (or reusable round) and is good for both men and women. In fact, so many of the Leaf People products I’ve tried have a scent that would be pleasing to both. Toner isn’t quite the right term for this product as it’s more of a potion. Yep, I said it. Every single ingredient has been carefully chosen to soothe, calm, enhance luminosity (a recurring theme over at Leaf People) and nourish the skin. It’s wonderful for any redness (including post-facial treatments like laser) and for age spots, wrinkles and dryness. Key ingredients are hyaluronic acid (love), mineral rich nettles, green tea, stellaria and apple cider vinegar to help reduce redness and balance skin’s pH. I’m a big fan of toners and this one really does so much more than just hydrate.
MYRTLE & ROSE NOURISHING FACE CREAM
You know those creams where you just keep layering it on because it’s so light and feels so cool and refreshing on the skin? Leaf People’s vegan Myrtle Burdock Rose Face Cream is just that. Super moisturizing (and softening), this cream is perfect before makeup because the skin just eats it up and it is absorbed so quickly. It’s also fantastic for sensitive skins and calming down any redness (thanks to aloe vera, rose and Burdock root). Having an herbalist make your skincare seems to make a lot of sense once you realize how much each ingredient can do to improve the quality of your skin, right? Oh, and in addition, this cream does double duty by working on those age spots and wrinkles with the help of white myrtle, camu camu and deep sea kelp. Myrtle and Rose cream has a light, fresh scent and is gluten-free.
POMEGRANATE GINKGO TRANSFORM SERUM
I would definitely use the word lush to describe this serum. I would highly recommend this for dry/mature skin as it provides a ton of moisture for the skin, so if you’re dealing with lots of dryness, this is your serum. The Transform Serum includes a specially-designed blend of 13 medicinal plants and 8 essential oils to brighten up skin, fade any age spots and work on softening wrinkles. There’s so many green beauty heavy hitters in this bottle including: ashwagandha, red clover, helichrysum, frankincense, gotu kola, rosehip, red raspberry, pumpkin and pomegranate seed oils. So, if you haven’t been exactly kind to your skin (too much sun, not enough care, in general) you will benefit greatly from this little powerhouse serum. It will give your skin the super-charged nourishment it desperately needs as well as work on repairing any skin damage that you may have incurred. You only need a few drops, too.
