Before I tried dry shampoo, I wasn’t really sold on the idea. Now, that I’ve tried ’em? I’m pretty much a Dry Shampoo master. Allow me to bring you to the Dry Side…
I was pretty disgusted by the concept. Why on Earth would anyone ever want to put powder in their hair instead of just washing it? Well, I discovered, for a bunch of reasons, let’s say…
- Your hair is clean, but your face serum/moisturizer decided to get all cozy with your forehead (and therefore, your bangs)
- You’ve just left the gym and your hair is looking flat and damp and you have to run to work
- You don’t want to be washing your hair everyday (we all know it’s healthier not to)
- You’re going from a long day out to an evening event and it needs a bit of a lift
Dry shampoo will always do the trick by adding volume (some add more than others as you’ll see below) mattifying the hair or just simply absorbing excess oil. I hope you find one you love and let me know what you use and love.
CAPTAIN BLANKENSHIP
Captain Blakenship Mermaid Mane Dry Shampoo I use this DAILY. The scent of this dry shampoo needs to be made into a fragrance yesterday. With intoxicating Rose Geranium and Palmarosa, this beautifully packaged dry shampoo does exactly what it sets out to do: absorbs excess oil, mattifies the hair and gives volume. I’m absolutely loving this ultra-cool line of pure product created by Jana Blankenship who not only has thee coolest name on the planet, but makes beautiful products. Reviews on her other products to come! If you love rose, you need this. 4 oz. $24
LULU ORGANICS
Lavender + Clary Sage Dry Shampoo Can I just say that first off, this smells BEAUTIFUL! It is so pretty and such a great mix of both lavender and clary sage. Why is this organic and talc-free dry shampoo so great? Because although it is light-feeling, it really does the trick. With just a bit of this sprinkled into the palm of your hand, you can remove excess oils, add volume and have delicious-smelling hair. I like to rub my hands together, run it through my hair, wait a bit and then brush it through. I also love the packaging. Vegan, gluten-free, handmade. Also comes in Jasmine, Patchouli & Amber and Vetiver & Black Pepper. 4 oz $30
ACURE ORGANICS
Acure Organics This is some serious stuff. If you like your dry shampoo to mattify and give you plenty of volume, you’re going to want Acure. Without a scent, this dry shampoo is heavy-duty, absorbing every bit of oil and adding lots of volume to the hair. You only need a small amount of this for it to work. Argan stem cell and CoQ10 are added to give a keratin boost to the shampoo.
GREEN + GORGEOUS ORGANIC
Green & Gorgeous is a new brand for me and one that I was SO excited to test out due to the gorgeous packaging, organic ingredients and the scents (Lavender & Bergamot or Grapefruit & Sweet Orange)! What makes G & G dry shampoo different? The super-fine texture. It will absorb excess oil without making your hair look powdery or matte. They also have one for dark hair and one for all colors. Natural and subtle, Green & Gorgeous’ dry shampoos are toxin-free, don’t contain GMOs, are vegan, organic, sulfate-free and fragrance-free. I love, love, love the travel sizes, too.
